Monte Carlo, 8 October 2025 : An engaged audience filled the Monaco Press Club as Captain Paul Watson shared his extraordinary journey as an ocean defender, leaving guests inspired by his vision, courage, and unwavering commitment to the planet.

It marked a welcome return to Monaco for Captain Watson, whose deep ties to the principality and its environmental legacy run decades deep. The event was hosted at the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, bringing together journalists, environmental advocates, and supporters from across Europe.

Throughout the evening, Captain Watson shared stories from his decades on the frontlines of ocean conservation from his early days co-founding Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd to his ongoing mission to protect whales, dolphins, and marine ecosystems through the Captain Paul Watson Foundation.

Monaco, long a beacon for marine protection, once again proved a fitting stage. Prince Albert II, an enduring advocate for the environment and ocean health, has continually emphasized the need for bold, science-based action — a message deeply aligned with Captain Watson’s lifelong fight for the seas.

The meeting ended with a message of hope addressed to the many young people present in the room: “You have no power over the future, but you do have power over the present. It is in the present that what will come is built. Don’t let anyone tell you that something is impossible. They also said it about the end of slavery, the vote for women, of a black president in South Africa. Everything is possible, if the solutions are found!.”

At the end, the Board of Directors of the Monaco Press Club appointed Paul Watson honorary member of the Club. In the evening the artist MrOne Teas then gave him a symbolic work: a shark trapped in a plastic bottle, to remember the fragility of our planet and the strength of its struggle.

The evening concluded with a standing ovation as Watson urged continued unity and courage in defending the ocean, closing with his defining words.

As reported : ‘He left the room with a reminder that resounded long after the applause ended, keeping in mind that courage, passion and imagination can change the world and that young people should follow these three principles.

“We must be the shepherds of the sea. Because if we lose the ocean, we lose everything. ”
